Stanza is a literary arts organization that focuses on writing, community and advocacy. Stanza creates and develops unique programs suited for all walks of life. Our programs and workshops are structured around the idea that everybody is interested in learning, that people are creative by nature and that when you give a person the tools and attention they need they will create beyond any measure and words.
In a post-truth world, it is the storytellers and writers who will make all the difference. If we can redefine our stories, perhaps we can redefine how we live. Stanza's workshops conclude with a celebration of the participants' work. In the past, Stanza has worked with the Orangeville Public Library, The Caledon Public Library, the Probis Club of Brampton, Family Transition Place and Kerry's Place Autism Services.
Stanza's project-based approach gives participants ownership over the writing process and strengthens their ability to express themselves clearly and in their own voice. By making writing fun, and by creating various platforms, like collages and zines that celebrate their work, participants can obtain the necessary skills to think creatively, write creatively and, by extension, live creatively.
Stanza wants to tap into the creative energy of communities and help create a need and desire to write, to share and to participate and contribute to the wider community.
